OkCupid is great for finding compatible matches via their question system and doesn't put messaging people behind a paywall. Personally, I think it's the best free dating site/app.
They do, however, try to trick you into using a Tinder-like swiping system that basically blocks you from messaging that person. If you want to contact someone, find them with a search and message them directly. Easy.

Tinder may be more popular and have a larger user base, but OKCupid provides you with matches you'll actually have something in common with and doesn't create fake profiles to inflate their user base.

In summary, I would recommend OK Cupid to a friend.

As fun and pleasant an experience as you can expect from such a dating site. Nice combination between ease of use and practicality.

In 2010 I joined OkCupid with the intention of filling in a test. A rather strange motivation to join a dating site, but so I did anyway. After having finished the test, I decided to stay around and see what the site was all about.

I found many girls, whom most of them came from the USA.
I am European myself and was disappointed in the lack of European members.

I returned to OKC late 2010 and decided to talk to anyone, everywhere. I am quite the attractive guy, and I had serious problems getting replies. My messages varied a lot, and only 2 out of 10 would reply, often even with nothing interesting to say closing the conversation. This could possibly be led back to girls not replying back because of the 'distance.'

I wasn't looking for anything 'distance,' but the lack of okc's variety in locations made okc, unless used in such a way completely useless to someone like me. At some point OKC became a tool to get rid of boredom, rather than to find a date. I wasn't taking the site seriously.

I have used this site for six months,and I have had three dates. Of these I only enjoyed one and she lied about being single.

Albeit I could have had many more if I wanted them.

The problem with this site is that it is free, anyone can join for any reason. In my opinion a free site attracts people who may or may not really be looking for someone. Yet, there are members that are truly searching for someone,it would be unreasonable to say otherwise. I think to make this site a truly valid site, a small charge should be incurred every month. This would better serve their real members, and purge the others.

If you are looking for Mr or Ms Perfect mate its a hard site to use. The lack of validity may be the primary reason it is not rated as highly as it could. If you find it rated highly its only because its free. I think in general you get what you pay for, and it doesn't matter if its 29 per month or 5 dollars a month.

1.Because it is a FREE site there are any and all kinds of people so you will really have to be a detective to find a decent and truthful person. I never did.

2.Technical Support is totally non existent. They will not answer your questions sent by email.

3.If you want to just browse the profiles to hopefully meet someone you'll be alright; but if you dare to venture into the Journals where you and anyone can comment on a Journal Post someone has written, beware of the hatemongers and the regulars who will fight to the death with words to keep their place there. And you will probably find yourself the target of put downs, name calling and in some rare occasions - exploitation. Don't be fooled into thinking they are all nice people because they really are some of the most immature, hateful, idiotic, ridiculous, no-life people I've ever ran across because they can hide behind a screen name and also don't have to post a picture of themselves. They aren't on there for dating purposes, they are on there for the ongoing saga of hate and arguing and making fun of people. It's like being on a school yard... (Read the full review)
