I have used this site for six months,and I have had three dates. Of these I only enjoyed one and she lied about being single.
Albeit I could have had many more if I wanted them.
The problem with this site is that it is free, anyone can join for any reason. In my opinion a free site attracts people who may or may not really be looking for someone. Yet, there are members that are truly searching for someone,it would be unreasonable to say otherwise. I think to make this site a truly valid site, a small charge should be incurred every month. This would better serve their real members, and purge the others.
If you are looking for Mr or Ms Perfect mate its a hard site to use. The lack of validity may be the primary reason it is not rated as highly as it could. If you find it rated highly its only because its free. I think in general you get what you pay for, and it doesn't matter if its 29 per month or 5 dollars a month.
I would say it is mostly an entertaining site, not a great dating site. I would not discourage anyone from joining, but to do so for the right reasons only . If they do not purge non users, they can grossly over inflate its membership, this is duplicitous at best. OKcupid and all dating sites need to clean up their act.
By not having website support is truly a big negative on their part. So, do they even see themselves as being a valid member of the community.
In summary, I would recommend OK Cupid to a friend.
