BeSocial.com is a trendy site with a couple of pleasant aesthetic options which make the site a more enjoyable browsing experience. You might, for example, alter the background of your profile, include several photos or choose to include as much or as little information as is possible. This makes for a personalised profile which will allow you to stand out from the crowd and show people what you’re really like.
Performing a search is easy enough on this site, and you can also make an advanced search to include important areas that a potential date might need, such as a certain physical trait or political belief. That said, searching for someone in a specific location which isn’t your pre-set location of choice is difficult and you are generally restricted to deciding how far away from you the member is. This means that if you live in New York but want to meet someone in London, it’s difficult to achieve because you can only specify that they live “125km+” from you. We performed a search for members within 25 km of a major UK city and only had 3 results, one of which was simply a picture of a baby, which isn’t allowed. This doesn’t serve the site well because they aren’t enforcing their own rules. That aside, 3 results is really quite paltry and the chances of getting a date with someone with those minimal results is...not a bet we’d make at Vegas.
Members’ profiles tend to have at least one photograph of average quality (which is enough to see what they look like, on a whole). Quite a few have managed to put in a lot of information about themselves, some of which can be quite interesting because BeSocial has asked them questions about issues such as their ideal first date, which is a good insight into the sorts of things they prefer doing. You can easily open up a chat with any member, even sending them virtual gifts if you choose or requesting that you “connect” (though we’re not entirely sure what that means).
There is a coins system in place on this site which allows you to send virtual gifts and purchase a higher ranking in searches. Coins can be earned through increasing your activity on the site. For example, you might send more messages, “like” it on Facebook or forge connections with other members. It’s not an inconvenience as such because you don’t have to take part in the system, but the rewards are a little tight fisted and make the fun elements of the site seem a bit more like work.
BeSocial.com is an average site in many ways, let down by its membership and lack of attention to detail. Its free-ness is a great benefit but you might find that you’re spending a lot of time, rather than money, on a fruitless task. That said, there’s always a chance you might meet that special someone, purse strings fully intact.
