Although the features actually do seem to lend themselves to introductions, I received 4 or 5 bogus letters - some with identical job profiles etc, all in the first week!

"I am a civil engineer working in west africa" etc

Protect yourself. Do not trust this site!!

In summary, I would not recommend Spark.com to a friend.
