MatchMaker.com has an impressive bounty of more than 8 million members (over 50,000 signing up on any given week) which means you’ve a good chance of finding a date or three. Signing up is relatively simple, although it can be quite time consuming if you go to the effort of filling out the information in full. That said, the more information you provide the better this site is able to match you with other members.

Matching is a key feature of this site (did you guess by the name?). Playfully, little matchstick icons appear next to members’ interests if you also share that interest. This is a quick visual way of allowing you to find members who suit your lifestyle without having to read masses of texts, which can be a pleasant relief if you spend any time browsing profiles.

Free members can’t do a great deal other than create a profile, search for members or send a flirt to show they’re interested. Paying members are able to send emails and have instant messenger conversations, with their profile ranking highly in search results and the removal of site adverts. A year’s subscription makes for good value, though (as is often the case) the monthly subscription is less enticing as a money-saving prospect. But then with so many members you might find the person you’re looking for within the first month! A simple search will offer you a lot of results, and a pleasing feature of this site is that you can save your search preferences so you don’t need to keep ticking the same old boxes each time.

Profiles vary between ‘sparse’ and ‘overly detailed’ but at least you have the option to put yourself across in a variety of ways. Photos tend to be of a decent quality and Match Maker allows you to upload photos of up to 5MB.

This is a relatively basic site, with few outstanding or unique features. However, if you’re not really interested in webcam chats, events, masses of forum debates and dating articles then this might not be much of an issue for you. The membership numbers on MatchMaker.com make it a promising site to use for dating results and although it’s not the cheapest of dating websites the services on offer still offer good value for money.

It’s well worth creating a decent profile and having a browse around MatchMaker. Chances are you’ll find several members who tick the right boxes for you, and then who knows where it’ll go from there...
