ePersonals is not your
basic dating site.
This site features a different approach for helping members
find their 'match'. It utilizes a simple but thorough
information gathering approach to
match members by the preferences and traits expressed in the parameter
menus. You select the ones that apply to you and the ones
that you wish to see or prefer in a partner. There are over
30 menus that will need to be completed. This data collection
is tedious but presented in a very approachable way. It takes about an hour to complete enough of your Personal Profile to make it "matchable". We cannot recommend ePersonals, however, as it seems to have a large number of stagnant profiles.
Performing a search using our benchmark
approach, we were presented with a variety of members that numbered more
than 60. The listings contained the usual information: age, location, seeking, and a personal one liner meant to capture the attention of the
reader.
Of the 60 listings presented
there were just 13 with photos. Now this may just be an anomaly or it
could mean that these members don't want their faces seen on this site
(as sometimes happens), or it could mean that they're just playing with the idea of finding a partner.
Having read a bunch of profiles and checked the
last active info, we think the answer is a combination of all the above.
Some people do offer private photos to those whom they wish to get to know and
thus maintain their anonymity to the site at large.
The
profile listings have the capability of holding a better than average sized
photo and this enlarges when you click on it.
The photo quality here is good enough to be
workable. The enlargements are nice. Clicking on the member's
username will access the profile and other pertinent info.
The profile info is well organized and gives a good synopsis of a
member's desired partner and some good info about themselves.
This area is well done.
We thought we'd check out the "Who's active" lists.
This feature is a good idea and will help one to get a feel for
the activity at the site. The only problem was that no
listings or photos came up when we checked for any women 30 -50 years
of age. When we expanded the age to the max and checked with
all search parameters offered we still came up with zero, which implies that the feature is malfunctioning or there are no women within that age range active on the site.
When we checked the last activity
for the (60) members that came up in our search, we found not one to
have been active within the previous month, with some being
listed as "it's been a while". This is a red flag indicating a dead
site. It lends credence to our earlier conclusion that very few
photo postings indicates member apathy which means a dead site.
The site offers three ways
to "meet members". The aforementioned Match feature, (which
resulted in one listing); the "Who's active" feature, (which
yielded nothing); and the manual search, (which shows a fairly large
collection of inactive unphoto'd members). We
would speculate that the site's inactivity is possibly due to the rigorous
gathering of profile information and it might also be that the site's
self reported "incredible growth" is a fiction. Whatever the reason, it poses real problems for prospective members.
So
we have nothing great to report for ePersonals. We can see that the site has real potential by virtue of its approach and features, but the site seems to be stagnant and
unproductive. While we are
reluctant to offer a negative review we feel that to be fair to the
ones that excel we must be honest. Our recommendation is to
stick to our highly rated sites at No.1Reviews .com and leave this one
to the dogs.
